You can see the image of a flower in the HTML or high resolution
printed copies of this work. But not here in a low resolution or
audio copy. So let me simply summarize the words that appear in the
image.
Consent is the stem. Its roots are
trust, which involve
learning and judging; and
legitimacy, which
enables complexity.
There are two leaves:
Freedom,
which means both `freedom from' and `freedom to'; and
Law,
which implies
less corruption,
equality of opportunity, and
protection,
from hostile people and
from the non-human environment
The four blue petals, the criteria for making decisions in English,
`the four Ps of politics', are:
protect,
which requires a rule of law;
preserve,
which means the polity and a sustainable economy;
prepare
for next generation and its environment;
provide for teaching and for physical investments.
The inner part suggests how to judge potential politicans.
Do they reason well,
with rigor,
and do they understand reality?
Are they responsible and
honest?
